The Gardens of St. Luke's Hospital![]() St. Luke's Hospital has been based in the beautiful grounds of Oakland since 1954. Previously this fine house had been the residence of Charles Hely, of the great printing and stationery firm. After the land was bought by the Cancer Association of Ireland, one of the first jobs was a detailed survey of the gardens and trees, and during the building of the hospital, no tree was cut down that could possibly be preserved, and all the garden features were specially protected against damage.
However, our Patients and their families seem to appreciate the beautiful grounds mostly for the peace and relaxation they experience in this tranquil setting. The professional landscaping of the gardens of St. Luke’s carried out in 2007 was funded by the Friends of St. Luke’s Hospital. |

Today the professionally landscaped grounds provide a pitch and putt green, a boules court, and a ‘Slí na Sláinte’ outdoor walking route through the pathways of the grounds.
