Education and Training

We recognise that in order to deliver the highest standard of care to our patients, education and clinical practice must work in tandem. The department is one of the sites for the clinical education of students undertaking the four-year Trinity College Radiation Therapy degree programme. This involves extensive clinical placement throughout the department requiring practical teaching and student support. Link Radiation Therapists work directly with the school Of Radiation Therapy to ensure that high professional standards are maintained during student training.

Our clinical Radiation Therapists not only educate students, but also take responsibility for furthering their own education. Not only do they teach undergraduate Radiation Therapists they are also constantly updating and training into new technologies and treatment techniques themselves. They attend and often give presentations at both in-house, national and international lectures and conferences in Radiation Therapy, Health Care & Management issues.

Radiation Therapists established an education working group in the Radiotherapy Department in 2005 to co-ordinate monthly lunchtime lectures provided by and for the Radiation Therapy Staff.
